Ryan Maher, MA, LMHC, LCPC

Ryan is a psychotherapist, writer, and presenter licensed in Washington State and Illinois. He is a graduate of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology where he studied clinical counseling with a focus on trauma. Ryan works with individuals navigating significant life changes, personal and relational conflicts, and feelings of purposelessness/lack of meaning. Specific concerns often include: depression, anxiety, grief, spiritual/existential crises, and impulsive/compulsive patterns. He brings warmth, compassion, and an affirming energy to the therapy process.

Before creating Inner World Therapy, Ryan practiced at Watch Hill Therapy, a group practice specializing in trauma treatment. During this time he enhanced his skills as a trauma therapist and gave workshops on the intersection of trauma with the body, mind, and psyche as well as the use of dreams in psychotherapy. Prior to Watch Hill, Ryan worked at a treatment facility for individuals with severe mental illnesses. While there he developed and implemented group programs and offered support through skills training, counseling, and collaborative treatment plans.

Ryan completed a two-year post-graduate training program in Jungian Psychotherapy. He is a member of The Breathe Network, the National Board of Certified Counselors, and the American Counseling Association. He is also an affiliate member of the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago and presents regularly at The C.G. Jung Center in Evanston, IL.
